How to cause a menstrual period?

Before you decide to follow advice from this article, you should understand what you are doing and why you are doing it. A menstrual period is a process in your body that happens regularly with the frequency established by nature. If this cycle is broken, it is a not good idea to force it by using home remedies. Even if you manage to do it, it will not solve the problem of a missed period but it can even make the situation worse. A woman who treats her body responsibly will never experiment but will seek her doctor’s advice to find out what caused the missed period.

If you have made up your mind to control your menstrual cycle, you should know what causes menstruation in order to tell reasonable advice from folklore. First of all, a woman’s cycle depends on the amount of hormones in the blood. During the cycle the two main hormones – estrogen and progesterone play an important part and affect the cycle directly.

In the chart you can see that the level of the hormones estrogen and progesterone changes during the menstrual cycle. It is logical to think that that if you want to cause your period you should just learn to control the level of hormones in your body. It is not that easy though and it can also be dangerous if you try to cause a period without consulting your doctor. If you look at the chart and think that your problem will be solved by decreasing of progesterone, you are wrong. A missed period most likely means that the level of progesterone in your body is already low. Moreover, if you want to cause a menstrual period you must be sure that the endometrial layer in thick enough. Menstruation is an ejection of the endometrium and it is impossible to cause a period if there is no endometrium. Even if you succeed in doing it, the discharge will be low. The solution to the problem must be the normalization of the endometrium.

Herbs which can help to cause a period

In order to make the endometrial layer thick enough to be ready for menstruation, you should raise the level of progesterone for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks you should stop the raised level of progesterone and it will cause a period. At the same time you should try to lower the level of estrogen. A high level of estrogen prevents increase of progesterone level. In order to better understand this relationship, imagine progesterone and estrogene on the two pans of the scales. When the level of one hormone increases, the body lowers the level of the other one automatically and vice versa.

So in order to control hormones one should know what herbs can affect their level. Hormone-like activity has been discovered in some progestagenic plants (those containing natural progesterone). Among these are the following:chaste tree (Vitex agnus-castus), meadow pasqueflower (Pulsatilla pratensis), goose grass (Potentilla anserina), dew-cup and raspberry. The most powerful affect can be caused by chaste tree ( also called monk’s pepper tree or leban (Vitex) )

In order  to lower the level of estrogen in blood while raising progesterone levels, one can take peppermint tea at the same time. You need to brew peppermint tea for at least 5 minutes and take 2 or 3 cups every day.

After a 2-week course you should stop taking the herbs and wait for your menstrual period to come. It it does not happen, you should seek your doctor’s advice
